Thanksgiving Break

Only one more week and then...whoo-hoo! One whole week off of school. Thanksgiving Break is November 23-27. Parent Teacher Conferences are held at the beginning of the week. Visit your students teachers, it's a great time to touch base and meet the people your student spends the day with. Information about the conferences was mailed home from the school office.

Have a great holiday break. Don't eat too much turkey!

Charity Drive Chairs Chosen

The Class of 2013 will participate in their first Charity Drive led by Logan Schieno, Kennedy Johnson and Emily Schwend. They will be meeting with the class advisors and planning activities. Be thinking about how you would like to help our class, as the Co-Chair Team will be looking for committee chairs.

If you would like to be involved, please contact any of the class advisors. We are excited because this class has so much potential and class spirit.

Charity Drive...the crazy days will be here before we know it!

Homecoming 2009

Our first Homecoming week was fantastic! Our class pulled together and dressed up, which earned us a lot of points. We showed well in the class games and it soon became the talk of the school that the Freshman just might be able to take Homecoming. It came down to the class skits on Friday to really see which class had it together. We had worked very hard on our class skit about the Princess and the Philomath Warriors. Ms. Rhodes and Ms. Hurliman worked with us developing the skit and Ms. Durrer worked with the team for class cheer. Our skit went well and we received great buzz about it. We wondered what the final point total would be.

At the Homecoming football game, our Princess, Kara Moore represented us well. When the results were revealed, it was stated that this was the closest Homecoming point totals in years between first and second. ASB Officers Kyle Fetzer, Trevor Scott, Elder Bravo and Josh Haymond announced fourth place, then third without mentioning the Freshman. In the end, we earned SECOND place with the Seniors winning Homecoming. We were so proud to know that we almost won Homecoming!

In the Beginning...

There was a class of kids from Junior High School that showed up at the doorstep of Tillamook High School. Not sure what they were supposed to do, they gathered together in the hallways, looking nervous, shy, scared...take your pick. They carried their backpacks and books to their classrooms and met their new teachers. They wondered what new and foreign adventures awaited them in this new experience called HIGH SCHOOL. Sophomores looked at them and were glad they weren't lowly Freshman anymore. Juniors and Seniors wondered if they really looked that young when they first came to THS. Only Freshman...the babies of the school. Nothing much is expected out of Freshman when it comes to activities. They have to get their "feet wet" and learn the ropes.

Then we had our first Pep Assembly with a Cheer-Off. President Nathan McRae led the Frosh class in the school cheer. As the stomping began and the cheer turned into a mighty roar, it was plain to see that this Freshman Class was a contender! The look of amazement on the faces of the upper classmen quickly changed to respect. They instantly knew that this Freshman class was different. They had spirit and determination with a lot of class pride! Way to go!
